Jamie Lee Silver loved being a mother to her boys, and when her son Ben was diagnosed with schizophrenia, she did all she could to help him cope with the situation. Sadly, Ben completed suicide in 2015, and their relationship turned into a non-physical one. Throughout this challenging journey, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) tapping helped her face her grief and emotional pain. In 2019, she became certified in EFT and is now helping and consulting others with her ‘Silver Lining System’ for healing.
Along this path, her son Ben has never been far from her heart, mind, and practice. Using automatic writing, she wrote “Our Forever Ben: Letters from a Loving Mom to Her Son in Spirit, And His Poetic Replies.” She also created “Ben’s Memorial Mile & Community Festival” to honor his love of running, where they have raised money for schizophrenic brain research with the National Alliance of Mental Illness. Jamie joins this episode of Relentlessly Resilient to share her story and encourage others to seek out and use the right emotional and spiritual tools for them.

Mandy Anderson is a mother, a wife, and a photographer with great talent and great anxiety. So when she was asked to participate in The Woman of the Universe pageant as Mrs. USA, she did not jump at the invitation. Soon after, however, she realized how the platform could help her spread awareness about causes she cares about, including welcoming refugees. Now, as Mrs. USA 2023-2024, not only does she advocate for refugees with The Welcome Corps and Utah Valley Refugees, but she has also had the opportunity to discuss her own mental health struggles. In a world where marketers and politicians rush to extremes to sway you to their point of view, there is actually a lot of positivity to see out there! This is the message the host of The Optimistic American podcast, Paul Johnson, shares today with our Relentlessly Resilient hosts. As a successful businessman, author, and even former Phoenix mayor, he has experienced for himself the power of “critical positivity.” Calling from lessons in science, history, and literary legend Viktor Frankl; Paul illustrates how we can ignore the ‘fear-mongering” rhetoric of victim mindsets, powerlessness, and ‘othering’ in order to work together as a society. On his podcast, he invites others to “join the movement that is changing the narrative and reclaiming a sense of hope and agency, through powerful interviews and inspiring stories.” He shares his story and lessons on empowering the individual with positivity, not fear.

Tanner Poulson lived his life serving others as he worked with individuals with intellectual disabilities, and one of his favorite ways to serve and connect was with LEGO bricks. His mother, Karen Poulson, joins this episode of Relentlessly Resilient to talk about her son, his LEGO art, and how she is honoring his memory by gifting LEGO to those who most need that playful connecting and therapeutic toy.
Please visit the ILoveUsProject.com to donate to the project or purchase a LEGO keepsake in honor of Tanner’s life and legacy, which both our host Michelle Sharf and producer Kellieann Halvorsen did during this recording.
